Distributor Management System (DMS) is targeted to cater to the requirements of big FMCG companies for their inventory and accounting transactions. Apart from product master, customer masters, beat master, supplier master, brand master, sales man master, vehicle master, route master, the software included masters to handle complex promotional schemes offered by these companies. The features of software included multiple pricing for same product, promotional schemes on individual or group of products by quantity or value or weight, outlet wise promotions, outlet wise discounts, outlet-wise individual product sale, exchange of data with Tally (4.5/5.4/6.3), web upload of daily transaction, interface with mobile computers (Symbol SPT1500 & Intermec 600), multiple brand management from various suppliers, supplier vs. brand & product hierarchy, monitoring of sales man targets vs. achievements, van and route management, separate sales and accounting periods, ledger accounts, and compressed backup/restore. The MIS included, invoicing, sales & stock reports, returns (sales & purchase), scheme claims, salesman productivity, customer performance, outstanding & daily collection, distribution width, TPR statement, beat card, retailer card, and accounting reports.
The front-end is developed using Visual Basic 6.0 with back end as Microsoft Access 97 database (being migrated to SQL Server 7). The report printing in the system is done through plain text files for fast printing on dot matrix/laser/inkjet printers. The software has compatibility to support bar code scanners and portable data collection terminals in addition to mobile computers.
